Camping and Gallbladders

Here's the new tent we got. It barely fit on the raised tent area of our site, and the awning went out the back into the woods. We had a great time camping. The weather was beautiful and it was wonderful to see friends we hadn't seen in years.

On Friday we went on a hike with our parents. The kids were troopers. The walk was a steep downhill walk the entire way, through woods and rocky terrain and occasionally slippery wooden steps, and then the return trip. Chloe made it the entire way. I had recently finished reading Louis L'Amour's Sackett's Land and was pretending Luke and I were sneaking around trying not to be seen by any savages or Nick Bardle and his ruthless men. Luke loved it.

Friday night I didn't sleep at all. I had a lot of pain in my stomach, which I thought was gas at the time. Luke had a rough night and refused to sleep in any position except for on his back laying on top of my stomach. We ended up going to the ER in Redwing the next day to find out that I was having a gallbladder attack. Today I had my gallbladder removed and found that I also have kidney stones that need passing. I'll be drinking lots of liquids and making frequent trips to the bathroom.

All that said, I loved the trip and look forward to more camping in the near future.

A tent that doesn't leak

We're going camping this coming weekend at Frontenac State Park with a bunch of families we used to go camping with when I was little. We haven't been camping for a while.

We used to have a tent, but it leaked horribly. Now at the last minute we ordered a new 12 person tent from Eureka. I'm excited!

Family Blog

You know those letters people send out around Christmas or New Years updating everyone on what has happened with the family over the past year? We haven't sent any of those for a while. I decided the time has come to setup a family blog, which we hope to update more often than once a year. So here it is. Stay tuned for Johnson family updates.
